The popularity of "Sugar Skull" make up is growing and growing. It is a spooky yet glam look for Halloween and can be blinged up to the hilt, perfect for parties! The "Sugar Skull" is actually based on a traditional Mexican holiday called All Souls Day which is observed on November 1st. It is a day in which they honour their dead relatives by adorning their graves and alters with offerings. One type of adornment is traditional sugar skulls made of sugar and adorned with flowers and other decorations made from sugar paste. The sugar skulls I create are made from pure make up ;-).
To create this look I used water based face paints. I sponged on a Snazaroo white base, and contoured the face with a deep pink from Superstar. I also used Superstar paints on the eyes and for the detailing. I applied Grimas pearlized powders onto the white base and deep pink onto the conturs and blended down the neck. I glued the gold rhinestones with Duo Adhesive, and added drops of glitter with Collection 2000 Glam Rocks glitter liners in gold and black. I applied Eyelure lashes from my kit, which I think were limited addition with gold flecks.
This Halloween, I am mainly booked up with photoshoots! But feel free to get in touch if you need a make up look and I will see if I can fit you in. Happy Halloween!!!
