I heart it! Smashbox Liquid Halo HD Foundation Review

I have been a fan of Smashbox Halo Powder for a while now, so I was very excited when they brought out a liquid foundation based on the radiant Halo glow! I was never a big fan of their original HD foundation, although I really like their HD concealers. I was really hoping this would be an improvement, and it certainly is.

This silicon based foundation claims to

• Works with all undertones • Buildable sheer-to-medium coverage • Long-wearing • Moisturising • Sweat and humidity resistant

Which ticks a lot of boxes for me! Being oily of face, I was concerned about it being too greasy but the oil-free formula left my skin pleasantly luminous without too much shine for HOURS!!! I am wearing shade 3 on the left side on the photo above, which is slightly too light for me. I think shade 4 would have maybe been better, but I can always add bronzer for the summer as I am much fairer in the winter months.

I primed my skin with Nars Radiance Enhancing Primer (which I also LOVE LOVE LOVE) and buffed the foundation on to my skin with a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. It gave a sheer coverage, and made my skin feel like silk. The first day I tried this product, I powdered with Estee Lauder Perfecting Loose Powder, which is their recent HD style silica based finishing powder. I regretted it immediately, as it made it look too matte and took away the gorgeous finish of the product. The second try, I left it as is and just applied a little cream blusher. After 5 hours of wear, doing wedding makeup in a very warm conservatory I might add, it still looked as fresh as when I applied it and the coverage still as good. I was really impressed when I went to take it off another 8 hours later, I was getting a little shine breakthrough, but the makeup itself still looked great! Without any powder or setting spray!

I have invested in this for my kit as well as I think it will make a great foundation for my clients and models. I picked up shades 1,2, 5, and 7 so that I can blend and customise perfect shades. 10 shades are available in total. As a die hard fan of Double Wear and Double Wear Light by Estee Lauder, I am really impressed with the gorgeous texture, finish, and staying power of this radiant makeup. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants their skin to look naturally beautiful. Smashbox is available in the UK at selected Boots stores and via their website www.smashbox.co.uk.
