Yeah, I know I'm like a day late with this. I am a busy woman!
The Emmys were a fab showcase of upcoming trends. On the fashion side we saw lots of assymetrical hems, colour blocking, and earring cuffs. Soft hair ups and long center partings were popular hair chices among the celebs. And most of the makeup looks were simple and chic, very fresh! Which I am LOVING. It is not all about the Kardashian Kontour and black shadow!
January Jones's Tomato Lips
January Jones can do no wrong in my book! Her personally style is a little edgy, a total change from Betty Draper! I am obsessing over this red lip, which perfectly matched her gown, and her gorgeous simple winged liner. A classic look updated with the orange tone of the lipstick. Get the look with Estee Lauder Pure Colour Lip Envy in Envious, long lasting semi matte finish. For a crisp lip line, apply concealer first, line with a super sharp red orange pencil and fill in, apply lippy and then line again. Remember, if you have less than perfect white teeth, you may want to avoid orange tones as it can emphasise yellowness! Opt for a more pure red instead.
Clare Danes also rocked a red lip, although hers was more sheer and pink toned. Still lovely and fresh with a simple lined eye and light brows.

Christina Hendricks's gorgeous lips were looking even more soft with a sheer berry lipstick.
You can achieve this look by sheering out your fave berry shade with some lip balm, or even try Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Red Dahlia.
Using a matte taupe eye shadow such as Illamaqua's Heroine, blended softly into the contours of the eye and smudged underneath, really makes blue eyes pop on pale skin tones. Define lashes with Make Up For Ever's Smoky Lash Mascara.
Sarah Hyland from Modern Family was channeling the 90s with her nude palette of makeup.
I love the soft definition on her eyes, and the brown lip!!! The brown lip!!! The brown lip of my youth!!! Nice to see it making a comeback. I really want to blog about my fave brown lippy from the 90s, which I still have. Don't worry, I don't use it anymore. I just kept it for sentimental reasons. Check out Illamasqua's new range of Glamore Lipsticks in fabulous nudes. They are the perfect matte, long wearing and do not dry your lips out! Sarah's dress was my fave of the night as well.
A very nude, no lipstick look was also seen on quite a few celebs. I think Julia Robert's wore it best, with just a hint of shine.
This is a difficult look to get right, and some of those on the red carpet looked like they just had dry lips! In order to get beautiful bare lips, make sure you use a lip scrub, I like Lush's Bubblegum Lip Scrub, followed by a lip balm, and then blot away excess shine.
My Not So Faves
Okay, I love Lena Dunham, but what can I say about this?
No. Just no. The hair is so cute, a great colour on her and the bowl cut suits her personality. Her eyes could have been done better to really accentuate her big browm peepers, and a bold lip would have been great too.
Also, Kaley Cuoco. Really? What happened here?
The frosty pink eye shadow and pink lipliner are just too obvious. I am loving her haircut though!
