2015 Hottest Bridal Hair and Makeup Trends

As a wedding professional, I am always keeping my eyes on the catwalk and red carpet for inspirational looks and trends for my brides. It is important to look fresh and on trend, but not so much that you will look back at your wedding photos and think they look hideously dated!

There are key trends this wedding season that have trickled down from the fashion and celebrity worlds. Here are my picks of the best looks that will look current yet classic for your wedding day!

The Chic Chignon

This classic bun never goes out of style! Over the last few seasons it has been overlooked for softer, looser pinned up curls. The chignon is back in a big way this year. Wear with a center or deep side part, losely pinned at the nape of the neck to look perfectly imperfect. looks great with a simple sparkly headband.

Clean Makeup

Obviously, you will wear makeup on your wedding day. This trend is about looking fresh and clean with subtle hints of colour and shimmer and amazing, glowing skin. Sheer foundations, creamy blushers and neutral eye shadows are key to acheiving this youthful look. Have a brow tint and shape a few days before your wedding, them simply brush them into shape on the day. So very pretty.

Flowers in Her Hair

Tiny flowers, real, silk, or jewelled, dotted the hairstyles on the runways during bridal fashion week last year. This look is beautiful whether you are having your hair up, down or plaited. Sprigs of baby's breath are a perfect and inexpensive option to incorporate this trend.

Smoked Wing

Winged eyeliner is a perrenial favourite of brides. Bring the wing bang up to date by using a deep shade of powder shadow applied with an angle brush. It is easier to apply than a liquid or gel liner, and gives a softer winged look that we have seen on the red carpets this season. Brown looks especially great on blue eyes, charcoal on brown eyes, and burgundy for those green peepers.

Loose Plaits

The plaits are still popular this season. Braided across the hairline in lieu of a tiara is the classic option, but we are seeing more of a simple loose side plait. Warning: do not attempt this trend unless you have copius amounts of thick long hair! Visible extensions of scalp is NOT cute in your wedding album!

Just Bitten

Lip stains are a fab option for brides. Just a hint of colour dabbed on the lips that lasts all day and is even kiss proof! Lips must be in great condition for this to work, so get scrubbing and slather on the lip conditioner of your choice.

Boho Waves

Forget the traditional updo, soft loose waves are the way to go this year. Spray hair with a salt spray then wrap thick sections around a curling wand to acheive this "I woke up like this" look. Toussel with fingers and pin the sides up. Perfect for a Summer wedding!

Pop of Shimmer

Add an extra touch of glamour to any makeup look by incorporating metallic eye shadows and highlighters. A pop of high shimmer in the center of the eyelid instantly brightens eyes and makes lashes look longer. Dusting highlighter on the cupids bow and pout of the lip makes it look fuller.
