I have long been infatuated with the make-up goddess that is Charlotte Tilbury. I have obsessed over her editorials and Tom Ford campaigns for years and years, and I was beyond excited when she produced her own cosmetics line. I have tried various products since their launch in 2013. I have loved most, and been a bit 'meh' about some. I have never really tried the eye shadows though. I don't like carrying bulky compacts of only 4 pans of shadow around in my kit, I need streamlined packaging and palettes. When the Instant Eye Palette was announced, it was the perfect opportunity to bring Charlotte Tilbury Shadows into my professional kit.
I ordered last Thursday during the pre-sale, which sold out pretty damn fast! The palette arrived this morning, and I could not wait to try it out! The 12 shades are a perfect blend of matte and shimmer neutrals that would suit any eye colour. I will say that the 2 lightest groupings, 'Day Eye' and 'Desk Eye', probably wouldn't suit women of colour. in my opinion as a make-up artist, they are very pale and would either not show up or look talc-y on a darker skin tone. There are two darker groupings, 'Date Eye' and 'Disco Eye'. Each grouping has three shades, one to 'prime', one to 'enhance', and one to 'smoke'.
I love how sophisticated this palette is, there is not an orange or red tone in site. Also no rose gold! It is very fashion forward and, hopefully, trend setting.
There are helpful easy-to-follow instructions on the back of the box. This palette is designed with the every day woman in mind!
I was intrigued by the 'Disco Eye' look, as it has a very pretty and unusual grey/green shimmer as the 'enhance' shade. But seeing as I was heading out to the school run shortly, I thought I should dial it back a notch and go for the 'Date Eye'. I love a good Date night! The shadows applied beautifully with my brushes and blended effortlessly. Great payout as they are highly pigmented. The texture was very nice.
At my age, I shy away from too much shimmer as it just reminds me that my eyelids are not smooth any more, but these shimmers seem to make my skin look SMOOTHER!
Holy cow, it's a miracle! Charlotte Tilbury deserves much praise for this. I completed my eye look with Charlotte Tilbury Rock n Kohl Pencil in Barbarella Brown, my all time favourite brown liner. I had received a sample of Legendary Lashes with my purchases, so I thought I would give it a try. Fingers crossed it won't make my blepharitis flare up!
In addition to the eye shadow palette, I ordered one of the new Hollywood Lips matte liquid lipsticks.I chose the shade 'Best Actress' as it looked like a good neutral shade to try out.
Brace yourselves ladies, I think I have found the holy grail of long wearing matte liquid lipsticks.
The colour is seriously gorgeous and takes me right back to my 90s prime (yes I am that kind of middle age woman who doesn't want to let go of her brown lippy). At first, I found the contoured applicator a bit strange, but then I noticed how it hugged my lips perfectly, creating a defined line and making my lips look plumper. I feel like freakin' Linda Evangelista right now. I might never remove this lipstick. Seeing how it feels very comfortable and not drying at all, I could possibly wear this forever.
So, I love all of the Charlotte Tilbury things that the post man brought to me today! I love that when I place an order I get to choose a couple samples. When your parcel arrives, everything is packaged beautifully and it feels so special to open! Charlotte is my red carpet make-up queen, and I aspire to be as talented and glamorous as she is. Until then, I will just keep using her products!
