Something very, very exciting has happened at Chez Glamorama…. I have a brand new beautiful bathroom! This has been a long process, saving and planning, designing and shopping, and finally the execution by my talented builder, Forefathers Construction.

new bathroom

I must say, I love a good bathroom. And our previous bathroom was more chabby than chic unfortunately. It was fine when we moved in 21 years ago, luxurious even, and only 3 years old at the time. But it was time for a new bathroom, overdue actually. There are no before pics my friends, because I truly had “housebarrassment” over this room.

When we go away, I scout out the hotel bathrooms because I dream of luxuriating in the bath with a glass of bubbly. Hope Street Hotel is one of my faves! But this is no longer required, as my new bathroom ticks all of my luxury bathroom boxes. And I am fortunate enough to have it every day!

My requirements for my bathroom were a freestanding bath, a walk in shower with a built-in shelf, a large vanity sink unit with lots of storage, a large medicine cabinet with even more storage, and a heated towel rail. We would have loved underfloor heating too, but sadly our budget did not stretch that far. Our floor is tiled with wood effect tiling which gives the room a clean, scandi feel. I chose a dusky taupe wall colour and accessorised with shades of muted green. We have hung a Mucha print above the bath which tones right in with the soft colour palette.

A bathroom like this deserves fabulous bath products! At Christmas I received a lovely Molton Brown gift set from one of my wonderful clients. I fell in love with the Coastal Cypress and Sea Fennel shower gel, so I have purchased the full size plus the body lotion. Absolutely decadent, so clean smelling and fresh.

I was very lucky to receive Vegamour hair products to try out a few weeks ago! Let’s take a minute to chat about how lush their GRO shampoo and GRO conditioner are. I have very fine, thin hair that is pretty lifeless. This shampoo and conditioner smell amazing and give professional results. They have boosted the body in my hair and given me more volume. I bought a scalp scrubber from TK Maxx to use while I am shampooing, and that is like an extra treat to massage my scalp while I shampoo. Using their hair serum has also improved the density and strength of my hair. I have also been using their Pure Marula Oil on dry areas on my body, it is so effective at softening rough patches and locking in moisture. This cruelty-free vegan hair care brand is one not to sleep on! Highly recommend that you give it a try. You can see their full range here https://vegamour.com/collections/all

Another amazing hair product I am currently using is the cruelty-free and vegan friendly K18 leave-in molecular hair mask treatment. This patented product reverses hair damage caused by heat styling and colouring in only 4 minutes. You only need to smooth a small amount in after washing, leave for 4 minutes, then style as usual. It has made my hair silky smooth, easier to blow dry, and I don’t need to wash as often. K18 is available to buy at Kathryn Kavanagh salon where I am based for makeup and beauty, 101 Woolton Road L15 6TB. Ring 0151 722 9900 for more info.

I love a good at home spa, so found a gorgeous body scrub by Noble Isle. The Willow Song fragrance is rich in white and green florals, perfect for spring. It is a sugar based scrub that leaves your skin like silk. It layers nicely under my Molton Brown lotion. While soaking in the bath, I love to add Westlab Himalayan Bath Salts. These soothe and hydrate your skin, draw out toxins, and leave you looking radiant. You can add a few drops of your favourite essential oils for added relaxation. I love geranium and frankincense oils from local company, Essencia. You can visit them at Inglenook Lavender farm in Rainford.

Hair removal is a hot topic, and every person has their own opinion about it. I personally shave my legs and underarms, but not so much in the colder months! I shave once a week when it is warmer or when my legs might peep out in the harsh light of day. I was generously gifted a starter set from Estrid. I love their ethos, they are environmentally friendly and all vegan. It is a subscription service, but you have total control over the frequency of deliveries. The starter kit includes a steel handled razor with matching wall mount and 2 razor blade cartridges. The cartridges have 5 blades and a moisturising surround meaning you don’t have to fiddle with shaving cream. I have tried their shaving cream, and it is amazing and very soothing and moisturising, so would definitely recommend that as well. I can honestly say that the Estrid razor has given be the closest shave I’ve ever had, it takes days for any stubble to appear once I have shaved. My legs are very dry, but using the razor in conjunction with their shaving lotion leaves them feeling soft and hydrated. The handle is weighty and you can keep a good grip on it. And they come in a bunch of gorgeous colours to match any bathroom. Estrid is suitable for all people who want to remove body hair from any place. Check out https://estrid.com/uk/

I hope you like having a little nosy in my new bathroom. FYI, I have no airing cupboard doors yet, hence there are no pics of that side of the room hahaha! Keep an eye on my Instagram and I will be sharing those very soon!

Shout out to my fab builder Forefathers Construction . They have done both of our bathrooms now and we are absolutely delighted with their work.
